Going to bed for a 8:15 am alarm

  • Asleep by 11:00 pm — 6 full sleep cycles, about 9 hours
  • Asleep by 12:30 am — 5 full sleep cycles, about 7 hours
  • Asleep by 2:00 am — 4 full sleep cycles, about 6 hours

A sleep cycle runs about 90 minutes, and most people take around 15 minutes to drop off. Waking at the end of a cycle feels easier than waking in the middle of one.

Online alarm clock for 8:15 am

You are just waking up, with the board still to be loaded for a morning surf at Raglan. An 8:15 am alarm gives you a clear starting point: get dressed, check the conditions, secure the board and leave without letting the morning drift away. With 45 minutes until 9:00 am, there is enough time to move steadily rather than scramble through the driveway.

Because the board run starts before you are fully alert, check where the alarm sound will play when you set it. A phone may quietly route the tone to headphones left in a bag or beside the bed, so test the volume through the speaker you expect to hear. Keep this browser session running and the phone awake; if either stops, the alarm for your Raglan surf will not sound. A separate backup alarm is sensible when the tide or swell gives you little flexibility.

Before looking closely at the surf report at 8:15 am, let the room brighten or switch on a soft nearby light. A glaring screen in a dark bedroom can make small details harder to scan while you are still waking. Raise the screen only enough to read the forecast, then put the phone down while dressing and carrying the board outside.
