Keep the tab open and the device awake, powered, and allowed to play sound. Check whether audio is muted or connected to a speaker in another room. Browser throttling and power-saving settings can affect an unattended page, so use a second suitable timer for cooking, medicine, laboratory work, or any task where a missed signal could cause harm.

A duration normally continues through the September or April daylight-saving change because it measures elapsed time. The shown finish date and hour still depend on the device clock and time-zone setting. Check both carefully when an interval ends near midnight or is tied to a booking sent from across the International Date Line.

A timer can create a useful edge around revision, remote meetings, workshop jobs, exercise, and rest between rostered shifts. For a long session, decide what you will inspect at zero. The sound means only that the selected interval has passed; it cannot confirm that food is cooked, recovery is complete, or work is accurate.

For a journey, count backwards from the point when you genuinely need to arrive and include a buffer. School traffic, rain, road closures, mountain conditions, and delayed ferries do not change this countdown automatically. Consult current sources before departure and reset the interval if the plan changes.
