Going to bed for a 9:15 am alarm

  • Asleep by 12:00 am — 6 full sleep cycles, about 9 hours
  • Asleep by 1:30 am — 5 full sleep cycles, about 7 hours
  • Asleep by 3:00 am — 4 full sleep cycles, about 6 hours

A sleep cycle runs about 90 minutes, and most people take around 15 minutes to drop off. Waking at the end of a cycle feels easier than waking in the middle of one.

Online alarm clock for 9:15 am

While getting the New Zealand flag ready for the school assembly, set the alarm for 9:15 am before you move on to the next preparation. That gives the signal a clear purpose: it is the cue to collect the flag, check the halyard and head towards the assembly area. With 10:00 am still ahead, there is room to fix a twisted rope or confirm who will help raise it.

A school assembly can become noisy well before everyone is in place, so choose a volume you can hear over conversation, chairs moving and outdoor sounds. Test the alarm from the spot where you expect to be at 9:15 am, rather than beside the phone. Keep it nearby and leave the alarm running: the flag cue may not sound if the browser alarm is no longer active when the phone goes to sleep.

Preparing the flag in the morning is easier with clean hands and nothing awkward to carry. If you want food beforehand, finish a small breakfast or snack early enough to put everything away before 9:15 am. Keep water close for the walk to the assembly area, but leave hot drinks and open cups behind so both hands are free for the folded flag and rope.
