With both hands busy rinsing didymo from boots, waders or fishing gear, you need the countdown to carry on without demanding attention. Set 4 minutes before working water through seams, tread grooves and any folds where strands can cling. The sound at the end lets you concentrate on the gear instead of repeatedly checking the phone with wet hands.

While you turn and rinse each item, the phone may dim or lock before the countdown ends. That does not necessarily stop the timer, so leave the sound audible and place the device somewhere dry and close enough to hear. If your phone normally pauses browser activity when locked, keep the screen awake temporarily, with the brightness lowered, rather than handling it midway through the rinse.

For a second item or another side of the same gear, restart the same countdown only after the first rinse is complete. This keeps the two passes distinct and prevents time spent moving hoses, shifting boots or untangling straps from being counted as rinsing. If several pieces need attention, finish one timed pass, reset, then begin the next when water is flowing over the new piece.
