While you remain beside the hive, leave the countdown tab open and keep the browser running. Closing either may stop the countdown or prevent its ending sound, leaving no reliable signal while your attention is on the entrance. If the phone must go into a pocket, lock neither the browser nor the device until the interval has finished.

As the entrance is secured again, stand close enough to hear the ending sound above nearby bees, a running ute, or wind across an exposed farm track. Raise the phone volume before your hands are occupied, but keep the device away from the hive and moving gear.
